Authors are worthless in Ajimobi’s tenure – SYNW

Urges Ogun, Lagos, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti state government  to immortalize, Adebayo Faleti and Akinwumi Isola

Wole Adedoyin, the President of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) has accused the incumbent governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi of denying to honour dead notable writers from the state.

This was contained in a press statement issued by Mr. Adedoyin in Ibadan yesterday.

The statement read “The demise of Dr. Adebayo Faleti (26 December 1921-23 July 2017), Chief Supo Kosemani and Prof. Akinwunmi Isola (24 December – 17 February 2018) are great loss to Oyo State and Yorubas worldwide.”

“It is a great loss to Yoruba people generally. The three great Oyo State indigenes were exceptional personalities and exceptionally intelligent writers. Oyo state government under the leadership of Senator Abiola Ajimobi has not done anything to immortalize these three great writers who all died during his political administration.”

“It is very important for Oyo state government to immortalize them and we hope that other South Western states too will do something about that.”

“In Ibadan and Oyo town for example, there are lots of roads, parks, libraries, schools and centers the government can name after Prof. Akinwunmi Isola, Dr. Adebayo Faleti and Chief Supo Kosemani. Also the Cultural Centre which the government has turned to beer joint can be renamed after any of these three important writers of Oyo state origin.”

“Currently, there are no signs of immortalizing the three iconic writers yet, but we do hope that proper justice must be done by immortalizing the three distinguished Yoruba writers from Oyo state.
