IMO: Following kick off of the Nigeria Professional Football League Under-15 Promises tournament at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri on Monday, Young warriors of FC Ifeanyi Ubah was fantastic on the encounter with the people’s elephant.
Young Warrior’s (FCIU) captain Samuel Salau opened the score line at 17 minutes after Okechukwu delivered a long pass from the left angle of the Enyimba area, he wasted no time finding the net, also FCIU wonder-kid who lead the Young Warriors attack Adam Azeez lifted FC Ifeanyi Ubah to consolidate their 2-0 win over Enyimba in the first half after he finished off a pass from Babatunde Bello in the 30th minute to seal victory for his side.
Enyimba defence found it difficult contend the attacking pressure from FC Ifeanyi Ubah who dominated the game, meanwhile Okechukwu Orakpor saw yellow after to offended Enyimba attacker who quickly attacked his side after a loss goal attempt.
The Peoples elephant came back in the second half of the game, making goal attempts, but it was a little late to save restores hope in the game, as FC Ifeanyi Goalkeeper Oladipupo Tobiloba who won man of the match saved his side to sustain the first victory of the opening game.
Coach of the losing side, Chidozie Agu attributed his team’s loss to his players’ inability to quickly settle into the game. “Of course you know they are kids and they are just experiencing this for the first time,” he said.
Likewise the Young Warriors Coach, Dopa Uche praised his kids for a job well done, and urge them not to be carried away with the win against Enyimba, rather they should focus on their next match on Wednesday 12 Noon against Abia Warriors teens who lost massively 5 nil to Akwa united.
In Tuesday’s action, Rivers United will face Abia Warriors at 2pm before the marauding teens from Uyo, Akwa United face Enyimba at 4pm.
