ANAMBRA: Heavy Duty and Trucks Drivers Association of Nigeria, HDTDAN, disclosed yesterday that it has joined various security operatives in fighting insurgency, goods diversion by drivers and armed robbery.
Making this disclosure to newsmen in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra state, its National Coordinator, Comrade Uche Rogers Nebuwa said, “the spate of insurgency and goods diversion is now a source of worry to the Federal Government and because we are always on the road it Knows we can assist in crime fighting“.
Nebuwa who is also the South East coordinator of National Union of Road Transport Workers, (NURTW) stated, “the presidency mandated NURTW to checkmate the insurgency activities and diversion goods and trucks by drivers vide letter number AHQ/DATOPS/G3/240/97 Headquarters, Nigerian Army, Department of Army Operations, Area 7 Garki Abuja and letter HQNAIC/G4/100/316//1 from Army Intelligence, dated 7th October 2016”.
“We also commend and will assist Chief Audu Ogbe, Minister of Agriculture for Improvement on agriculture”, he said.
According to Nebuwa, “as from now weigh bills must be given to drivers at the parks and loading points (bays) and not on the high ways and this will curtail constant diversion of goods and trucks. This new :-)| will be backed up by Force Alert Security Services with Head office in Kano and we will also ensure joint weigh bill of goods before takeoff of goods and destination to avoid diversion and carriage of arms for insurgency”.
“I commend our headquarters for introducing this joint weigh bill that will assist a lot in crime fighting” the coordinator stated.
