The Executive Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Bassey Otu, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for the recent appointment of an indigene of the state, Major General Emmanuel Parker Akomaye Undiandeye, as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
Governor Otu is also excited over the elevation of four citizens of the state to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police.
The new AIGs from the state are; Echeng Eworo Echeng, Okon E. Okon, Susan Ukpanukiema Horsefall, and Odama Ojeka Paul.
According to him, “We in Cross River State are particularly pleased that the president found worthy a son of ours for the sensitive position of Chief of Defence Intelligence. This speaks to the president’s knack for excellence, professionalism, and inclusion.
“I remain confident that Cross River State and indeed the whole country is in for better times and as such every Nigerian should give their support to the Federal Government so that they can be witnesses to Hope Renewed as promised by our dear President and the APC.
“From the far-reaching decisions that the president has taken such as the removal of fuel subsidy, Nigerians should be aware that every new beginning could have teething pains but in the long run, the gains are immense.”
He admonished the new appointee to see his elevation as a call to demonstrate loyalty, service, and commitment.
The Governor also commended the Police Service Commission and the Acting Inspector General of Police for finding four citizens of the state worthy of such elevation.
He said the promotions are evidence that the state is on the rise, and called on citizens of the state to put in their best wherever they find themselves and serve as worthy ambassadors.
He congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to carry out their responsibilities in accordance with the law, and display sound judgment, great strategic management, and operational abilities.
“It is exciting to have these distinguished Cross River-born officers moving steadily to the peak of their careers with records of excellent service to the Nigerian State and its people,” he said.
