The father of late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has raised fresh concerns over the ongoing DNA test process meant to determine the paternity of his grandson, Liam.
Joseph Aloba, speaking publicly, alleged that the integrity of the DNA testing process may have been compromised, claiming that certain influential individuals are attempting to frustrate efforts to establish the truth.
According to him, the controversy surrounding the selection of laboratories for the test has deepened suspicion, as questions have been raised about the credibility and competence of some of the facilities involved. His legal team had earlier indicated that there were reservations about the technical capacity of certain laboratories chosen for the exercise.
A Lagos Magistrate Court had previously ordered that a DNA test be conducted to confirm whether Liam is biologically related to the late singer. The court further directed that multiple accredited laboratories be engaged to ensure transparency and credibility in the process.
However, Aloba insists that the process must be beyond reproach, stressing that the DNA test remains a critical condition before the burial of his son can proceed. He warned that any attempt to manipulate the process would undermine justice in the already sensitive case.
In a dramatic twist, the bereaved father disclosed that he is considering seeking a transfer of the case out of Lagos State, possibly to Ekiti, in a bid to guarantee fairness and avoid alleged interference.
He also appealed to the Lagos State Government to permit the burial of Mohbad once the DNA test was properly conducted, emphasising that the outcome would play a crucial role in settling lingering disputes over paternity and inheritance.
The paternity controversy has remained one of the most contentious issues following Mohbad’s death in September 2023, which sparked nationwide outrage and calls for justice.
As the legal and emotional battle continues, Nigerians remain keenly interested in the outcome of the DNA test, which many believe could provide clarity in the prolonged controversy surrounding the late singer’s legacy.
