Unidentified Assailants Set Fire to Residence of Anambra Federal Constituency Representative, Paschal Agbodike

In the early hours of Tuesday, a group of unidentified assailants carried out an arson attack on the residence of Paschal Agbodike, the elected representative of Ihiala Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. The incident occurred in Ubahi-Mbosi, situated within Ihiala Local Government Area. The attackers arrived at approximately 1 am, discharging gunshots before setting the premises ablaze.

Paschal Agbodike, a former deputy speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, hails from the location where the incident took place. Fortunately, no lives were lost during the attack. However, the assailants managed to completely destroy the property, which comprised a fully furnished five-bedroom duplex equipped with four living rooms and a kitchen.

Although currently carrying out legislative duties in Abuja, Agbodike confirmed the incident to the press, revealing that he was notified over the phone. Security personnel were dispatched to the scene, but the attackers had already fled by the time they arrived. Agbodike did not indicate any specific suspects or potential motives, including whether the attack had political undertones.

The state’s police spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, verified the occurrence, assuring that security measures were being implemented within the area. “The area has been secured, and security operatives have been deployed in the vicinity. Ongoing surveillance efforts are being undertaken by the operatives.”
