On Wednesday, August 9, at the Abuja Continental Hotel in Abuja, Olukayode Egbetokun, the acting Inspector-General of Police, introduced the Standard Operating Procedure manual for the Schools Protection Squad (SPS) and conducted a workshop on the Safe Schools Initiative for Strategic Police Managers.

This significant development comes after the recent establishment of the Schools Protection Squad, a specialized police unit dedicated to ensuring the safety of schools and educational institutions throughout the nation.

Egbetokun emphasized that the initiative would initially be implemented across 18 pilot states, including the Federal Capital Territory, that are considered more vulnerable. He reassured that the Nigeria Police Force is committed to the meticulous execution of safeguarding educational establishments from potential threats and dangers. Egbetokun called on all stakeholders to collaborate and support the Federal Government, the police, and other partners to successfully realize this initiative.

The SOP manual, a comprehensive document offering clear guidelines for the effective operation of the Schools Protection Squad, was unveiled during this event, according to information reported by The Trumpet News.
