Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, the Founder and Spiritual Director of Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry in Uke, Anambra State, has initiated a program to provide a monthly stipend for life to over 300 elderly individuals in Nkwelle-Ezunaka, including a former chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo. The stipend distribution took place at Afunwa Shopping Mall and Events Centre in Nkwelle-Ezunaka.

The initiative, which began immediately, saw elderly men and women aged 75 and above benefiting from a monthly stipend of N5,000 each. Known as “Ebube Muonso” among his admirers, Fr. Emmanuel Obimma referred to the teachings of Christ in John 10:10 as the inspiration for his gesture of providing for the elderly and underprivileged.

Fr. Obimma highlighted the importance of caring for the elderly and revealed that he also had a special package to cover their hospital bills, which he would discreetly manage. He expressed his intention to establish an investment that would generate funds to support the elderly and future generations. He vowed to continue the stipend payments until his passing and confirmed his plan to include it in his will.

Addressing the youth, Fr. Obimma advised them to engage in lawful businesses and shun recklessness, emphasizing the value of hard work and its rewards. He shared his international outreach efforts, mentioning countries like Australia, Glasgow, California, Turkey, and Canada where he had spread the gospel.

The gesture received gratitude and admiration from the community. Chris Eluemuno, the former chairman of Ohaneze, praised Fr. Obimma for remembering the elderly, particularly those aged 75 and above. The President General of the community, Chief Willie Okafor, and other community leaders expressed their appreciation and wished for the priest’s well-being.

The manager of the stipend scheme, Hon. Ubaka Onwuanyi, also commended the priest’s efforts and prayed for his continued guidance and protection.

The community’s leaders and patrons praised Fr. Obimma’s kindness and offered their blessings for his generous gesture.
